Laser marking uses a focused laser beam to alter the surface of a material for identification, branding or decorative purposes. It can use various techniques (including annealing, foaming and coloration) depending on the material and laser settings. Laser marking discolors the material without removing much (or any) material.

It’s different from laser engraving, where the laser physically removes material to create a deep, permanent mark, and laser etching, which creates a shallower version of engraving that slightly melts the surface.

Our LasePen® systems can be used for marking, engraving, and etching. You can choose the best approach for your particular use.

Our laser marking machines are engineered to handle various materials, including:

  • Bare metals and metal alloys, such as steel, stainless steel, aluminum, brass, titanium, silver, and gold.

  • Metals with surface treatments, including anodizing, plating, powder coating, painting, and more.

  • Plastics

  • Carbon fiber

  • Ceramics

  • Glass and fused quartz

  • Crystals

  • Leather

  • Wood

  • Stones and beads

  • Other organic materials

Our products have different laser configurations and accessories optimized for particular material types. Contact our customer service team for product recommendations.

True to our name, our industrial-grade lasers are engineered for performance, reliability and scalability. Our LasePen® series and custom laser systems are designed to integrate smoothly into industrial environments. Our clients range from small shops handling short runs to large manufacturers with high-volume demands.

Laser marks created by our systems are highly durable and, in most cases, permanent. Marks on metals resist wear, corrosion, heat, and chemicals. The longevity of marks on plastics and other materials can vary based on usage conditions. Our machines are tuned to deliver deep, high-contrast results that stand the test of time.

Our machines are used across various industries, including aerospace, automotive, firearms and defense, medical device manufacturing, electronics, jewelry, promotional products and industrial manufacturing. They’re used for applications ranging from serial numbers and barcodes to custom branding and decorative marks.
